Ronald and Maxine Linde Laboratory for Global Environmental Science

The centerpiece of the Ronald and Maxine Linde Laboratory for Global Environmental Science is a solar telescope that was built for Caltech cofounder and solar astronomer George Ellery Hale. The main part of the instrument is a contraption called a coelostat, which sits under a large white dome on the roof of the building.
